Signs Your Roof Has Storm Damage

Many homeowners don't realise they have damage until a leak appears months later. Texas hail and wind storms can cause serious damage that isn't visible from the ground. Here's what to look for.

Dented or Cracked Shingles

Hailstones leave circular dents or bruising on asphalt shingles. Cracks and splits expose the underlying material to moisture and UV, accelerating deterioration.

Granule Loss in Gutters

After a storm, check your gutters and downspout outlets. Heavy granule deposits are a tell-tale sign that hail has knocked the protective coating off your shingles.

Dented Metal Flashings

Flashings around chimneys, vents, and skylights are especially vulnerable. Dents and displaced flashings create gaps where water can enter, even if shingles look intact.

Leaks or Water Stains

Brown staining on ceilings or walls, drips during rain, or damp insulation in the attic all indicate water is getting in. By the time you see stains, damage is already progressing.

Visible Daylight Through Attic

Go into your attic on a sunny day. If you can see light coming through the decking, you have holes or gaps that need immediate attention before the next rain hits.

Sagging Sections

Visible dips or sags in the roofline indicate structural damage to the decking or rafters. This is urgent. Prolonged water saturation weakens the structure and puts the roof at risk of collapse.

Our Storm Damage Process

We handle everything from the first call to the final repair. No runaround, no delays, no surprises.

1

Emergency Inspection

We come out fast. Call us after the storm and we'll schedule an inspection as soon as possible - often the same day or next morning. You won't be waiting weeks for someone to show up.

2

Full Photo Documentation

We photograph every area of damage - shingles, flashings, gutters, ridge, valleys, decking, and attic if accessible. Every photo is timestamped. Nothing gets missed.

3

Detailed Written Report

You receive a comprehensive written report documenting all damage found. This is what your insurer needs to process your claim. We write it so adjusters can clearly understand the scope and severity.

4

We Work With Your Adjuster

We can meet your insurance adjuster on-site and walk them through the damage directly. We know what adjusters look for and how to make sure nothing legitimate is overlooked on your claim.

5

Repair or Replacement with Workmanship Warranty

Once your claim is approved, we complete the repair or full replacement. All work is backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty. We use quality materials and leave your property clean.

Do I Need to File an Insurance Claim?

Most standard Texas homeowner policies cover hail and wind damage. If your roof was damaged in a qualifying storm event, repairs or replacement are likely covered subject to your deductible.

We've helped dozens of Hill Country and Austin homeowners navigate the claims process successfully. We know what documentation insurers require and how to present it clearly.

"If your roof was damaged in a storm, call us before you call your insurer. We'll help you document it properly - so you have the best possible chance of a full payout."

Hail and wind coverage is standard

Most Texas homeowner policies include it by default.

Documentation is everything

Weak documentation means a lower payout or denial. We make sure yours is complete.

Common Questions

Questions we get from homeowners after a storm.

How long do I have to file a storm damage claim?
In Texas, most homeowner policies allow one year from the date of the storm to file a claim. Some policies are shorter. Check your policy documents or call your insurer to confirm. If you're not sure, get your roof inspected now so you have documentation in hand before any deadline.
Will filing a claim increase my premiums?
It depends on your insurer and how many claims you've filed previously. In Texas, a single weather-related claim typically does not trigger a rate increase - weather events are considered external factors, not personal risk. That said, policies vary. We can talk through the tradeoffs when we inspect your roof.
What if my insurance doesn't cover all the damage?
We'll give you honest options. If the insurance payout covers the bulk of the work, we'll discuss what a reasonable out-of-pocket amount looks like for the remainder. If the payout falls well short of fair, we can advise on whether appealing the adjustment is worth it. We won't pressure you into anything.
Do I need to be home during the inspection?
Not required, but we'd recommend it. If you're home we can walk you through what we find on the spot and answer your questions directly. If you can't be there, we'll send you our photo report and follow up with a call to go through the findings.
